So last night my friend Wang (from the last episode) bombed the Statue of Liberty replica (in the new york new york shopping district of Taipei) along with the rest of the City Marx crew. I brought my camera but I’m still waiting on the extended battery and other accessories so I couldn’t get a lot of good footage.
At 4 am after all the work was wrapped up i got in the Chinese style workman’s crane (that they had used to paint over the top of the statue) and we went all the way up like 6-10 stories in the air! It was old and creaky and the girl in the crane with me had to crank the basket manually so that it wouldn’t tip us over. Every time the crane adjusted positions it would shake and make f’ed up noises. Also, I couldn’t help myself, I looked down too much and not only could I see how far up I was, I could also see the big holes in the small metal bar basket that we were standing in, and one of them on the side was easily big enough to fall through by accident! I was also constantly aware of the fact that we didn’t have any sort of safety harness and that my waist came up close to the edge of the basket.
I was a little scared, just a tiny little bit of course, but it was still really fun! Hopefully i can find pics and perhaps links to coverage of the event of the whole night later, I’ll see about putting a little something together with the footage i got too. It was a lot of fun and plenty of cool people. Shout out to Terry from overdope.com who was there with his cameraman Jim covering the event from start to finish. And of course all the City Marxists.
In nine hours I might be meeting the president of Taiwan if they can get me in. Definite maybe. I’ll be wearing a clean TES shirt of course. == Q
